McKinstry Farms is seeking a Field Production Manager to help lead and oversee day-to-day field operations. This full-time, year-round role reports directly to the Head Grower and works closely with farm leadership to manage all aspects of field-based vegetable production. The ideal candidate is hands-on, organized, and confident operating and maintaining a wide range of farm equipment while leading crews efficiently and safely.
Support the Head Grower in managing all stages of vegetable crop production, including soil preparation, planting, cultivation, irrigation, spraying, and harvesting
Lead, train, and supervise seasonal field crews to complete daily tasks efficiently and to a high standard
Operate and maintain farm equipment including tractors, tillage and cultivation tools, spreaders, sprayers, and harvest equipment
Safely operate trucks, tractors, and equipment on public roads
Assist with crop scouting, identifying pest and disease pressure, and implementing control strategies
Maintain clear and accurate records of fieldwork, inputs, and harvests
Set up, maintain, and repair irrigation systems as needed
Participate in off-season projects, equipment maintenance, and preparation for upcoming growing seasons
Minimum of 2 years of experience in vegetable or row crop production
Strong tractor and farm equipment operation skills
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
Ability to safely drive trucks and large equipment on public roads
Willingness and ability to obtain a Massachusetts pesticide applicator license (support provided)
Physically capable of working long hours outdoors and regularly lifting 50+ lbs
Strong communication, leadership, and time-management skills
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
Bilingual (English/Spanish)
Basic mechanical and irrigation repair skills
