1. What is a CSA? A Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program allows customers to purchase a share of the farm’s harvest at the start of the season. In return, you receive weekly boxes of fresh, seasonal produce throughout the growing season, directly from McKinstry Farms.
2. When does the CSA season start and how long does it run? Our first CSA will kick off the first week of June and run for 12 weeks, ending in late August.
3. How much does the CSA cost? Our CSA offers 10 weeks of produce over a 12-week period, giving you the flexibility to skip up to 2 weeks if you're traveling or unable to pick up your share. You'll pay for 10 weeks of produce, and during the 12-week span, you can choose when to receive your share, with the option to receive it the following week if you're away.
Pricing:
You are only charged for 10 weeks of produce, but you have 12 weeks to enjoy it, allowing you to skip a week when needed.
5. How do I sign up for the CSA? You can sign up for the Summer CSA through our website. Simply choose your share option, complete the registration and payment process, and you’ll be all set to start receiving your fresh produce the first week of June.
6. What if I can’t pick up my share one week? No worries! With our flexible CSA, you can skip up to 2 weeks during the season. If you're away on vacation, simply pick up your share the following week instead.
7. How do I pick up my CSA share? You will receive information about the pickup location and schedule once you sign up. Shares are typically available for pick-up at McKinstry Farms during designated hours each week.
8. Can I customize my CSA share? Yes! You can swap one item per week from your CSA share using our swap table. If you’d like to exchange something you’re not interested in, simply visit the swap table during pick-up and select an alternative item. We hope this helps make your CSA experience more enjoyable and flexible!
9. What happens if I can’t use all the produce? We recommend planning meals based on the weekly CSA contents. Check out our produce availability form below to know what is in season throughout the summer months. However, if you’re ever unsure about how to use something, we’ll provide recipe ideas and tips for making the most out of your share. Plus, you can always share with family, friends, or neighbors!
