Our 2024 growing season kicked off in April with the first shoots of asparagus, welcoming spring and setting the stage for an abundant harvest. May brought our early summer squash and first cucumbers with early June bringing an abundance of our tender broccoli, followed by the much-anticipated sweet corn in late June. In July, we began harvesting our vibrant peppers, eggplants, and tomatoes, and by August, we were bringing in our first winter squashes. This year, we’re proud to share that we harvested over 1 million pounds of winter squash, which will be stored and enjoyed all the way through April!
Even as we wrap up the season, our fields are still producing beautiful late-harvest crops. We continue to pick fresh carrots, beets, turnips, broccoli, cabbage, and brussels sprouts. We’re also thrilled to still offer hearty butternut and acorn squash, stored and prepped to provide delicious seasonal flavors all through the winter.
We owe a huge thank you to our hard-working field crew, whose efforts day in and day out have made this season a success. And, of course, a special thank you goes to our loyal customers—your unwavering support keeps us going year after year!
As we close out 2024, we’re keeping busy. Our team is hard at work winterizing equipment, sowing cover crops to enrich our soil, mapping out fields for the 2025 season, and planning exciting new ventures to come. We can’t wait to share what’s in store for next year!
Thank you again for making this season wonderful. We’re already looking forward to another year of growth and community at McKinstry Farms! Our farm store is open year round, 7 days a week!
